When last we met....

I am happy to say that things have calmed down considerably. We have almost everything unpacked and set up, still some packing trash to get rid of but I close my eyes and it's not there. I am still sorting and setting things up in each room but finally everything is functional and homey. We have a beautiful view of the "Valley" though with "June Gloom" sitting thick and heavy for the last two weeks visibility is suffering, but the twinkling lights at night are great. Everyone is settling into our new digs and I like it.

Now on to keeping up with business, Stay tuned.

Anyone like Chocolate?

Well at long last I am trying to update my chocolate face mask that is currently only in 1/2oz sizes and in the Love Ritual Bath kits. It is still a work in progress but I plan to have it ready for the Unique LA show beginning of May. Off to make cold cream or vanishing cream, yeah vanishing cream sounds better.

The new mini kit!

So I realized many of us may not have time for a whole bath ritual during this busy season, though I still highly recommend it before that holiday party or family affair to get you in the mood. In my first apartment I was lucky enough to have a room with an adjoining bathroom (meant that at every party it was the communal bathroom but whatever) so before just about every party (or at least the ones I remember being especially fun) I took a ritual bath. I would soak in the tub with homemade bath salts or something bubbly with just candles lit and nice music, and then take my time getting ready for the event. But as we get older and add more things into our lives, from jobs, to significant others, to kids, time to yourself becomes a thing that you will get to after you do xyz. As that becomes your life sometimes a hot shower can be just as rejuvenating as a hot soak, so for that I have created a smaller Ritual Bath kit perfect for you. The three items you need for a quickie ritual, the face mask which you could apply before getting in the shower, a paraben free shower gel to cleanse and scent the air for a brief aromatherapy treatment, and lastly the moisturizer from a lighter body lotion to the more rich body butter. I am very excited about them I hope you are too. The perfect office gift or stocking stuffer will only be available for the holiday season, get yours today!

Upcoming events!

Well it has been a very busy October and November, I had a great first show at the Holiday Hotness Bazaar which inspired us to reach for more. I am happy to announce that we will be at two more shows for this holiday season, the Ghetto Gloss Art/Craft and Vintage fair on the 29th and 30th, and the super great Bust Craftacular on the 6th of December. Not only am I super excited for the upcoming shows but I will also be featuring products by my good friend Harvest Moon Soaps. Leigh makes shave soaps, bar soaps, lotion bars, and lip balms with great scents for guy and gal.
The next show with the ladies from Ghetto Gloss is in the beautiful area of Silverlake in Los Angeles. It has lots of great creative spots to explore and great old houses that I so wanted to live in when we got here. The next show with Bust Magazine ,one of my favorite publications will be in Downtown LA at the echoplex. I am so excited, so if you are in town be sure to check us out at one of the two shows.

Happy Holidays,

RitualBath

I am so excited to announce that I am on the second page of the Google search of Ritual Bath. Wohoooo, work and careful attention is paying off. The Etsy store shows up first and at the bottom of the page is our beloved Tales from the Tub. Thanks to all who have visited or added the feed to their RSS readers. Don't forget to sign up for my monthly newsletter (it's at the left of this post), not only is it only monthly and has different info and contests then the blog but it is linked to my CafePress store. There you can find tees and totes with the RitualBath logo as well as some original artwork, and RitualBath does make small profit from each item sold. Not to mention the advertising you would be doing by wearing the label around town.

Thanks again,
Head Bather

P.S. I am working on some room sprays, and want your input so stay tuned!

Backaches

So I recently threw out my back (motherhood has many blessings, tight abs not one of them) lifting some of our boxes that have yet to be unpacked. This is not unusual for me; I have had back injuries before and have tried many things to relieve my pain. Creams and patches cool me down but the ache is still there, drugs just made me sleepy which I woke from in more pain from not moving, but this time I made a bath concoction. Now I only did this the one time and the feelings lasted for a few hours but they were great hours, and want to try it again soon.

First I put the little one down for a nap (essential step), and began to brew some seaweed tea (any type you might have in the pantry for soups and such) boiling water and steep for 20 to 30 min. Then I made a bath teabag of chamomile and lavender to throw in while the tub was filling. As I filled the tub I dropped in the tea bag, poured in Epsom salts (a cup or two), and poured in the seaweed tea (without the now slimy seaweed). It smelled of the ocean but felt wonderful to soak in for twenty minutes, which is the most you should be in a warm bath. I carefully got out of the tub and my back felt great, though I didn’t and wouldn’t go out and try to lift anything. Granted the next day my back still hurt but I was happy for a few hours and I didn’t smell like menthol.
Feel free to try your own mermaid soak and have daydreams of the sea. Let me know how you made it your own ritual bath.

To every thing there is a season.

Motherhood is getting in the way of bath rituals. I no longer take a bath with candles before going out with my hubby, but hey I don’t go out with him very often anyway. If we do get to spend time together we are lucky to get out of the house with a place to go.
However that said I do need them back if only for a centering of myself and not before a date. I feel relaxed during the bath, soaking in sea salts and essential oils, my shoulders finally let go of all the things they must support for the day. It last for a while too, even better if I can go to sleep right after.
So new goal for the coming month: once a week bath, and I will update you all here with the recipes and outcomes. Wither it was moisturizing or calming and how to make it for your own reentry into your bath ritual.
Going to write my To-Do list,

Childlike

Well during tonight's bedtime rituals I was struck with a thought, baths for children are good clean fun. From fruit colored, and scented bath wash to toys designed just for the bath, kids have it made. We value this time to clean away the days exploration in the sand box as well as fun water play with rubber duckies.
As adults we use this time to decompress or pamper ourselves. Yet many of us feel guilty when we want to buy our own "bath toys", but I say we deserve a little bath time fun. Use it to listen to music you haven't in a while, a book you are enjoying, or just breath deep in the lovely scents of a lifetime ritual.... The Bath.
